Birds of Paradise (Sterlitza)

The common name “Bird of Paradise” is an eyecatching long stemmed flower. With each stem being approx 1metre in height, the bloom which flowers from the top only shows vivid lengths of purple/blue contrasted with pointed petals of brilliant orange. The foliage leaves are large and very rigid and compliment the cut flower.

Grown as a plant in hot climates often seen planted within landscape in many resorts. The plant itself can reach up to 5 feet in height with a 2-3 foot spread.

The Birds of Paradise I feel is more suited to exotic bouquets and within tropical foliage selections. Can be used in arrangements, but due to its size I would only use in large dramatic work.

Bouvardia

This delicate flower is a beauty in every sense. With each individual flower in a star shape, each bloom has numerous flowers all branched from the top of the stem. Even in bud form they provide texture and definition. Foliages of lush green pointed leaves frame the flowers.

Bouvardia comes in pure white, baby pink, salmon, and red.
The vase life for this cut flower is 7-14 days.

Point to note:

Bouvardia takes their name after Parisian doctor Charles Bouvard, personal physician to Louis XIII and director of the Jardin des Plantes.
